I've always thought there is something really creepy about the constant deification that grown men shower on the current occupant of the White House. If there's a single quote that sums up this obsequiousness, it has to be this one:
[President Bush's] persona is very much that of the big brother
Interesting choice of words. The only thing I can think of to explain this sort of thing, is they are still so terrified by what happened on 9/11 that they've lapsed into some sort of bizarre defense mechanism.
John Dewey once said, "democracy by nature puts a premium on mediocrity" and he probably was right - the only exceptional thing about George W, is his surname.

He rather reminds me of "idiot son."

I think our problem is mostly expectations - for instance, we have to rememeber there wasn't an single exceptional president from Lincoln to TR. If Fox News was around in the 19th Century, we'd have been lionizing Chester Alan Arthur.

Maybe he meant "Big Brother." Unfortunately, it's still only a persona, and W is still the little man behind the curtain. If they admitted that to themselves instead of focusing on his persona, the shrieking would be terrible. But fun.
